About
No one man should have all that power! Well, don’t tell Marco Arop that… watching the defending 800m World Champion from Canada run two laps around the track is a religious experience. He was born for this and it shows in the fact that his time of 1:41.20 at the Olympics is the fourth fastest time ever run in the event.
Arop has proven that he can run it any which way as his career has evolved. He ditched the reputation of a guy who can only front run and is now known as the guy who will either run away from you or make that pass in the final homestretch. For the 1500m guys dropping down, they should be worried about getting caught in a game of cat and mouse.
Now the question mark may be what can he do in the longer of the two events? His late season 2:13.13 in the 1000m bodes well for his ability to move up. And he ran 3:57 for the mile way back in college at Mississippi State long before he was running 1:41 800s on the regular. It may not be a good idea to let that one come down to a kick…
